Magical winter

A winter wonderland at the Rieplechn Farm in the Southern Tyrol

The forests and fields are covered by a white blanket of snow. On our farm, winter can be experienced peacefully and romantically, but also thrillingly and eventfully.

Just behind our farm is a toboggan slope, which is a wonderful pastime for the entire family, going up and down the slope with rosy cheeks.

All kinds of activities can be engaged in with snow: sculpt a snowman with charcoal eyes and a carrot nose, build an igloo or have a fun-filled snowball fight.

A deeply snow-covered landscape makes the invitation to winter rambles and crystal clear air, crunchy snow and glorious views will make even non-sporty people happy.

Snow shoe rambles are in full fashion. We would gladly accompany you to our Alpine hut at 2.000 m above sea-level in the Riesenferner-Ahm nature park and spend a few convivial hours there under a blue sky and radiant sunshine. While there, we can enjoy ourselves with a cup of hot herbal tea and a hearty “Brettljause” (farmers snack of ham, cheese etc).

Should the weather prove uncooperative on some days, farm life can still be witnessed up close. It would be our pleasure to carry out a guided tour of the farm with our guests, and children and youngsters can feed the various animals such as, the cows, calves, chickens, hares, goats and cats in the stable, or observe or help out with stable work. There is never any boredom with us, at any time of the year.

Just before nightfall, everyone has readily headed back to their warm, cosy holiday flat on the farm. In the homely atmosphere of the farmhouse living-room in the “Sun Paradise” holiday flat, the fire in the Tyrolean farm wood burning stove is crackling and one can get warmed up and also quickly dry wet items of clothing.

For the Christmas ambience, visit the Christmas markets and St. Nicholas processions. Numerous light chains, atmospheric sounds, ginger bread and mulled wine also enhance the mood.

Well-prepared slopes and modern snowmaking machines distinguish the Speikboden ski area in Tauferer Ahrtal. The ski area, with its 20 kilometres of slopes, can be found on the opposite side of the valley from our farm. From over there, the view points towards the “Three thousand” peak – what more could the heart desire!

The Klausberg Ski arena exceeds all expectations: 8 modern climbing facilities, 21 kilometres of slopes, the highest situated, 8 seat cable railway in the Southern Tyrol, a snowpark for snowboarders, the Klausi-Land for the youngest and an 11km illuminated toboggan run, (Night tobogganing on Tuesday evening).

The Kronplatz, situated at Reischach/Bruneck, is the largest ski area in the entire region and has over 116 kilometres of fabulous ski slopes at its disposal. Efficient snowmaking machines guarantee perfect conditions on the slopes.
